Army

The land force or army, is the part of an armed force that moves over land. Originally, an army could consist of foot soldiers (infantry) and horsemen (cavalry). From the 14th century, fire support (artillery) was added. After World War I, horses were no longer used in combat. Their task was taken over by tanks and armoured vehicles, which form the “modern cavalry”.
